SHEPARD FAIREY
The contemporary artist and graphic designer Shepard Fairey became known as a leader of one of de first campaigns of the so-called "guerrilha art warfare" in the 90s. Fairey, then a student of Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), became famous for creating a stylized image of Andre The Giant (French wrestler AndreRene Roussimoff) and posting it all over the streets with the word "OBEY" written underneath it.
His intention was to criticize what he saw as unbridled consumption by using tactics and aesthetics of totalitarianism; but what began as anti-advertising propaganda became the style and brand of the artist himself (he now owns the rights to a line of t-shirts, hats and backpacks).
The video below shows the preparation and execution of this incredible mural, developed for the West Hollywood Public Library in Los Angeles. If you are in Los Angeles it is definitely worthwhile to check out the library as well as Fairey`s fantastic mural.

JOHN BALDESSARI

"I WILL NOT MAKE ANY MORE BORING ART"
He is famous for his bold announcement:
"I WILL NOT MAKE ANY MORE BORING ART"
Vale a pena ver...
"A Brief History of John Baldessari" is a video on Baldessari's life and art and was commissioned by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) for their first annual Art+Film Gala (at which Baldessari and Clint Eastwood were the honorees). Max edited the video which was directed by his friends Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost (who also made the movies Catfish and Paranormal Activity 3). After the presentation of the video, Eastwood (jealous) stopped his speech and said, "who made this video about Baldessari???" It is worth seeing ...

Polka dots are timeless. This delicate print that transports us back to the '50s is always in fashion.
Sometimes stronger, as right now, polka dots are all over spring-summer collections. As well as pictures of flowers, animal prints and navy, the polka dot is always a joker who reigns in closets for eternity.
Always a classic, it's cool to mix polka dots with strong colors such as pink, yellow and green or with other, louder materials like hot pink.

SLEEPING BOY
Los Angeles is very modern and extremely clean. People, shops, and galleries add to the color visual of the city, but nothing beats the organized graffiti.
You can't graffiti a wall illegally and have it remain there for very long...

The other day Max came home excited because he had seen a new Banksy (or some imitator). We returned the next day to photograph it, but it was just the shadow of Mickey covered in white paint; the drawing was a criticism of Disney!!!

That life is not easy, we know already, but if we look at problems as challenges necessary to personal development they become less painful. Remorse, regrets, and dwelling on past events as well as worrying about the future all take us away from the present moment.
We have natural concerns over our health, over loved ones and financial stability, but free will allows us to make a change at any moment. Eating healthier, playing a sport, giving more attention to family and friends, looking with a better perspective at our jobs or even having the courage to get out of a stagnant situation is a start.
Life is unpredictable and our destination is unknown, but it is comforting to believe that if we try our best, everything is going to be all right <3

PEIXE

Ele, sendo diretor, escritor e editor virou idealizador e fotógrafo do Majô.
Majô was born in L.A. With the indispensable support of my husband Max Joseph who brought the site and all of its functionality to life. An excellent director and editor, he has become Majô's exclusive photographer.
I will always try to be objective, with the intention of making Majô a site for fashion and creative content. The main function, as I said in previous post, will be to show the pieces that will be sold.
Los Angeles, where I live, has an inexhaustible source of inspiration. I hope to show all of it in its infinite diversity, by having each photo shoot in a different location. Check back here for more posts about special places in L.A. and other cities throughout the world.

This is definitly the cliché of the moment, but it is true. Anywhere in the world, Brazilians are well-received and people grow friendlier when they discover our nationality. It's good to be so loved. Whether talking about music, athletes, or even just to say "tudo bem," people the world over are speaking more Portuguese than ever. If they have had the pleasure of going to Brazil, they describe their experiences passionately, and if they haven't been, Brazil is at the top of their list. We are the third world country most loved and adored by the first world. (Anyone know where the second world is???)
Enter Majo, whose primary mission is to find the best pieces throughout Europe and the United States and bring them back to Brazil (to sell in small quantities). I will be posting about art, fashion, events, and, most importantly, the clothes that will be sold. I hope you like it!!!

We have the privelege of being a tropical country rich with fauna and flora. We are naturally happy and creative people with a healtlhy lifestyle. Our musicians, artists and athletes are known all over the world, but unfortunately, our goverment is in the hands of dishonest politicians. Corruption dominates our country making national developement difficult, principally for small businesses. Even still we are always moving forward. We pay too much for basic necessities like food, health, and education, so what can we expect for "luxury" items like clothes? Now, there are the big (and expensive) fashion designers and then there are the new designers who work hard to create chic styles with affordable prices. However, even when these "less expensive" clothes arrive in Brazil, we must pay astronomical prices for them due to incredibly high income tax. For all these reasons we cannot keep up with the speed of fashion.
Espero que gostem!!!We have the privelege of being a tropical country rich with fauna and flora. We are naturally happy and creative people with a healtlhy lifestyle.
